'Suddenly, as if magic, she doesn't quite irritate me as much': Woman gets back at entitled sister-in-law simply by anonymously gifting her popcorn for Christmas

Imagine this: It's the holidays and you have to spend it with your in-laws. To some, that might be a great time! But to many on the internet, it seems like the in-law side is never quite filled with jolly. In fact, the stories you usually find online about in-laws are exhausting. Like, why are in-laws so entitled?? In the case of this wife who turned to Reddit to share her story, it's the sister-in-law (SIL) that is the problem child. This wife seems to get along with everyone else in her husband's family, even his parents. But this SIL is the worst, even the rest of her relatives would agree. She seems to be filled with entitlement and what the internet calls "main character syndrome." By the way, she is in her 40s, this isn't a little kid still trying to figure out empathy, this is a full-grown adult… In this case, the SIL sent out a Christmas gift list to her entire family—yes, you read that correct. She sent out a Christmas list to her family of everything she wanted. Her biggest mistake, however, was also including what she DID NOT want…

  • What a way to live, thinking the world revolves around you. Can you imagine being so spoiled that as a 40-something-year-old you still demand you get everything on your Christmas list? Wild. This SIL decided to very specifically state that she better not get anymore popcorn, because, even though she was all about it the previous years, she was over it. So what did the wife, the SIL's SIL, do? Well, she got her popcorn, of course! She wrapped the popcorn in its own wrapping paper and left who it was from anonymous, so it was a mystery. When the SIL opened it, she was fuming out the mouth! A beautiful moment for the wife to witness. 

     

    And another epic part to this story? The wife wasn't even the only one who did this! Another family member gifted her popcorn. Isn't it lovely to be on the same wavelength with the people you care about?

  • Well, I decided to buy her popcorn. I wrapped it up in some wrapping paper that I didn't use for anyone else (so it can't be tied to me), wrote her name in big capital letters with sharpie (so I doesn't look like my handwriting), and didn't sign a name who it was from ( again, no ties to me). The day of the In-law Christmas came and while unloading the Christmas presents I snuck it in under the tree way in the back away from all the gifts we brought.

  • In the middle of the gift opening, she opens a present from one of the other sisters and IT'S A BOX OF POPCORN! Lol!!!! She goes into this long winded rant about she asked to not get any and why can't anyone ever listen to what she says, blah, blah, blah. The sister apologizes, one of the nieces offers to take it, and the whole incident is brushed under the rug. The gift giving goes on and there's one more gift under the tree, tucked way in the back. It's pulled out, given to her, and she opens

  • Then proceeds to lose her sh. For the next 5 minutes she goes off, making the biggest deal about it, questioning who did it, looking at the wrapping paper and not finding who it's from, trying to identify the wrapping paper. It was a glorious thing to behold. At this point everyone is tired of her and all the gifts were open, so she gets ignored because they are all talking amongst themselves.
